At Bovis Homes, we are committed to developing all our employees to support the continued growth and success of the business. In addition to our existing training programmes, we encourage employees to discuss their own personal training needs with their manager.
This enables our training and development team to identify appropriate solutions to help develop our workforce. When you join Bovis Homes your development begins with a comprehensive induction programme. From here you will receive regular reviews and discussions about your progress and ongoing learning needs.
Craig Milner – Assistant Quantity Surveyor
I joined Bovis Homes as a Business Apprentice in the Surveying department in February 2011. After completing my NVQ in Business Administration, I was offered a promotion to the position of Junior Surveyor in July 2011, and started studying towards an HNC in Construction at Burton College. The two year course has allowed me to gain a basic knowledge of the construction industry required for me to progress within my current role. Since completing this course, I have been promoted to the position of Trainee Surveyor and again in January 2014 to Assistant Quantity Surveyor. I am now studying Quantity Surveying at Birmingham City University.
Bovis Homes has provided me with great support over the last few years. The Company has helped me progress within the business and allowed me the time required to gain the relevant knowledge at college and university. As my knowledge has expanded, I have been given more responsibility within the workplace, and hope this continues during and once I have completed my degree in May 2016.
Helen Bullen – Civil Engineer
I joined Bovis as a Trainee Civil Engineer in the South East Technical department back in May 2012. After completing my HND in Civil Engineering in the summer of 2013 I began studying a BSc Top Up course in September of the same year. The eighteen month course has underpinned and enhanced my knowledge of civil engineering.
I was promoted in April 2014 to the position of Assistant Civil Engineer due to the knowledge and experience gained both at work and through my studies. I completed my degree in February 2015 and gained a first, an achievement which I am thoroughly proud of. Since then I have been promoted to Civil Engineer for the Eastern Technical Department in June 2015 and continue to learn and develop my skills on the job. Next year I will be focusing on building my portfolio to apply for Incorporated Engineer membership with the Institute of Civil Engineers.
Bovis Homes has funded my studies and my colleagues and Technical Director, in particular, have been and continue to be a huge support. They have provided me with specialised information from their field of expertise and allowed me time to complete my course away from the office. As my knowledge has steadily improved, I have been given more responsibilities within work and have, I hope, become a dependable team member within the business.
George Taylor – Land Assistant
I joined Bovis Homes in February 2012, because I was aware Bovis Homes would help me with my development and I really wanted to be part of their growth.
I joined as a Business Administration Apprentice and Bovis Homes helped me every step of the way providing me with the correct training and always making sure I had enough time to study. Once I completed my apprenticeship I was happy to stay with Bovis Homes. Not long after I completed my apprenticeship, I was offered the opportunity to undertake another course, and I chose an HNC in Construction management. I am not in the second year of the course, and again Bovis Homes has supported me with my development and in my current role, which I enjoy very much.
I would recommend Bovis Homes to anyone looking for a career with opportunities to grow and develop.
